While being an entrepreneur is all about taking advantage of opportunities that come your way, there are some requests that you should always refuse. These are the requests that don’t help, that actually hinder you from reaching your goals. These are burdens that others thought you would be foolish enough to accept. Here is a list of 5 things that you, as an entrepreneur, must always reject:
1. Anything You Loathe
It doesn’t matter how beneficial something might be to your business if you personally loathe it. No favor is big enough for you to crawl through glass. If you accept these sorts of proposals or partnerships, the isquies don’t end when the meeting ends. They will continue through the
partnership’s existence, and they may linger in your thoughts long after the deed is done. The emotional turmoil from dealing with things you hate isn’t worth it. Just say no.
Some people like to make their problems your problems. They bring all their deep seated negativity to the fore and infect everyone around them with their issues. While it cannot be argued that they need help, that help does not need to come from you. You are not a therapist. If toxic people are bringing you and your startup down, you need to cut them out.
This doesn’t just apply to your inner circle. Negative people can spread their nonsense through an office quickly, and must be nipped in the bud. If you see someone making the office environment worse, talk to them. If they do not adjust, fire them. No startup can afford the poor morale.
3. Developing or Continuing Bad Habits
A big part of entrepreneurship is developing a healthy routine, something that keeps you going even when you don’t feel like it. This discipline ensures consistent output and performance. However, good routines don’t always form perfectly.
