4 Things Entrepreneurs Can Do to Manage Their Anxiety

People who have never felt constant anxiety before may find that being an entrepreneur can bring it out of them. There is a lot on the line, and every decision could be your last. Unsurprisingly, this can be more than a little nerve-wracking. If you cannot get a handle on your anxiety, it won’t matter how smart or how determined you are. Your spirit will break. Here are seven things you can do to keep things under control: 

1. Have a Game Plan for the Day 

The worst thing you can do when you have anxiety is to not have a plan. Anxiety robs you of your strength and decision making ability. It can make simple choices seem impossible to make. The good news is having a game plan in place can let you function, even when the panic attacks are going strong 

Having a game plan means you have something to fall back on when your emotional state starts to waver. You might not be 

able to perform at peak efficiency, but at least you will get something done. The fact is the world does not stop when you’re anxious. You still need to get things done, and a plan will help with that. 

2. Start Saying ‘No’ 

Some of the things you do make you feel good. Others won’t, but will push your startup’s agenda forward. If you’re lucky, you’ll have days where you have nothing but important tasks that you also thoroughly enjoy. However, too often you instead take on requests for things that you neither like nor need to do. This needs to stop. 

The more things in your day you don’t like or need, the worse you end up feeling. It makes you feel powerless, like you have no control over your life. This is the last thing you need, as there is enough about being an entrepreneur you have no power over. Learn to say ‘no’. Save yourself the trouble and just stay out of things you have no interest in. 

3. Trim athe Fat 

Alot of things pile up when you’re an entrepreneur. There will be subscriptions you’ll have just because they gave you a deal that your startup needed at the time. Take some time to de-clutter your life. Sit down and just start putting away or deleting things that don’t matter. 

De-cluttering can help with anxiety as it leaves you with less on your mind. Just having a lot of things in front of you, even if they’re unrelated to what you actually have to do, can affect your stability. The less cutter there is the more relaxed you can get, simply because there’s less in your view

4 Get Your Priorities Straight 

Being overwhelmed by all the things you have to do as an entrepreneur is a short-cut toward a life filled with anxiety. Unfortunately, it’s also an easy trap to fall into. You have a lot on your plate. The good news is you don’t actually need to do all of them immediately. Some can be put off for later or delegated. If you want to manage your anxiety, you need to get your priorities in order.
